Some thoughts so far on my RNC experience:
-the flight over was relatively painless, save an hour delay on my connecting flight.
-spent the first half of the day STILL having NO IDEA what I was supposed to be doing, or when I'd finally get more information until a 7pm phone call from my supervisor finally broke the silence
-have a single room, with all the advantages and drawbacks that come with it.
-residence inn, eagan Minnesota knows how to HOOK a girl UP -- amenities include cable TV, ktichen in room (fridge, stove, the works), pool, gym, laundry, shuttles and complimentary grocery shopping. yup, they go grocery shopping for ya and bring it to your room later that day.
-need to figure out healthy food options so I dont end up eating out for 3 meals a day and getting fat. hopefully can make some of my own food, as per above post.
-my boss asked me something along the lines of 'are you good at spending?' answer: umm YEAH!
also, a lil coincience from the NY Times (well, not really -- they had the upcoming RNC in mind) -- 36 Hours in Minneapolis-St. Paul
cant believe i stayed up this late -- i was tired over an hour ago. Goodnight!

Because I've had a rough morning...
some LOLCats are in order to brighten the rest of the day.
First, this parody of sorts by the Guardian -- 'LOLBush' -- is a great combination of Olympic fun and Bush humor: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gallery/2008/aug/12/bushlol?picture=336501045
And here's a regular one I just thought was cute:

more cat pictures
i love to snuggle.

Yet another reason to have a dog
Researchers have found that humans' yawns are contagious to dogs, and that this reaction is a rudimentary form of empathy, according to Reuters.

In my experience, dogs are quite sensitive to human emotions -- baci always came to comfort me when I was sad. it's like having a friend who understands how you feel without ever saying a word.

'Becks is a real American idol'
David Beckham will win the award for 'Top Male Athlete' at tonight's Teen Choice awards, beating Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods and Eli Manning for the title, UK's 'The Sun' reports. So good for US soccer!

ANTONY MANDLER / Mens Health Magazine
Key stats on Beck's US popularity from the article:
- [Beckham] was recently named Major League Soccer Player of the Year at US cable TV network ESPN’s sporting excellence awards.
- The average Galaxy attendance at The Home Depot Centre and away is now more than 28,000 — higher than Reading, Portsmouth, Fulham, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton in the Premier League last season.
- Major League shirt sales rocketed 780 per cent last year and clubs are seeing a leap in season ticket sales.
- MLS internet traffic is up 80 per cent.
- ADIDAS sold 500,000 LA Galaxy shirts with Beckham’s name last year — making it the world’s best-selling sports top.
- Galaxy’s away games attendances soared 118 per cent, and home ones by a quarter.
- TV viewing figures leapt 150 per cent whenever Becks played a match.
So ready for college basketball season to start
